When I first built the Buoy Music project during my time at Iowa Lakeside Lab as an artist-in-residence, the research buoy had recently been put in the lake. Since then, a host of new sensors have been added to the buoy to monitor the lake, not just at the surface, but at depth-intervals to the bottom of the lake.
With more data available, and the format for the data changed a bit, I needed to rebuild the collection and format system I had originally put together. Now that this is up and running, it will create a lot more potential for play with the resulting data.
New PHP script, running as a CRON job to collect data from the West Okoboji Lake research buoy monitored by Iowa Lakeside Lab
Over 10,000 records collected for use in future art projects
